2',2'-Difluoro-2'-deoxyuridine is an active metabolite of the anticancer nucleoside analog gemcitabine .1 It is formed by deamination of gemcitabine by cytidine deaminase in the liver. 2',2'-Difluoro-2'-deoxyuridine is cytotoxic to HepG2 and A549 cancer cells (IC50s = 3.13 and 3.92 μM, respectively).
